Welcome to our SELIS Newsletter – the project is approaching its third year and exciting results are beginning to emerge; – a reminder that the objective of SELIS is to deliver a ‘platform for pan-European logistics applications’ by:
 Embracing a wide spectrum of logistics perspectives and creating a unifying, operational and strategic business innovation agenda for pan European Green Logistics.
Establishing an exceptionally strong consortium of logistics stakeholders and ICT providers, that can leverage EU IP from over 40 projects so as to create proof of concept Common Communication and navigation platforms for pan-European logistics applications deployed in 8 living labs representing the principal logistics communities.
Establishing a research and innovation environment using the living labs to provide data that can be used for discovery of new insights that will enable continuous value creation supporting the large scale adoption of SELIS.

SELIS is trying to create an architecture for logistics information sharing and valorisation to form a single logistics information space in Europe, that is accessible for the transport sector, its users and, in addition, public authorities. The EU-funded project NexTrust is campaigning for more sustainability in logistics. The idea behind the project is to establish vertical and antitrust compliant horizontal collaboration networks. To achieve a high degree of sustainability, more than 30 project partners are currently working on more than 40 pilot projects to develop cooperative loading agreements to bundle freight volumes in order to reduce empty trips and shift loads from the road to alternative means of transport such as rail or ship. The aim is to relieve the environment through more sustainable methods of transport.

The first NexTrust workshop to share the results from the project was held on Thursday April 26th in Wiesbaden at the Panasonic Marketing Offices. It started with an excellent networking dinner on the previous evening and was very well attended by people from different sectors and companies from all over Europe who enjoyed interesting, informative presentations and lively discussions.
