Stephen Rinsler is the newly appointed Managing Director of ELUPEG (European Logistics Users, Providers and Enablers Group) and the Project Manager of their contribution to the NexTrust Collaboration Project: “ Building sustainable logistics through trusted collaborative networks across the entire supply chain”. This project has received funding from the EU Horizon 2020 research & innovation programme under grant agreement 635874 “With the tide of potential fragmentation overtaking Europe, the need for Supply Chains to co-operate within and across National Boundaries is all the more important if the productivity in Logistics is to markedly increase” , Steve says.

He is a Director of Bisham Consulting focussing on the strategic and operational supply chain audits (including ‘cost to serve’ models), inventory, procurement, outsourcing and training consultancy practices.

He is a strong believer in the education and empowerment of managers within the Supply Chain and Transport in general and this underlies his work within the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is a Trustee (Honorary Secretary) of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (International) and Past Chairman of the International Management Committee. “Collaboration is one necessity in the Supply Chain, the other is well trained staff and Managers who understand the way supply chain work and the need for excellence in Customer service” he adds

Stephen started his management career in Lever Brothers Limited, Unilever Ltd. After roles in planning, distribution and procurement, he worked in VandenBergh Foods Ltd, Unilever Ltd as SVP Chief Buyer and Company Supply Chain Manager. He then joined Exel Ltd as Services Director adding Risk Management and Health and Safety to his Procurement executive brief. Leaving Exel he entered consultancy with his main client being Storehouse where he was Interim Procurement Director. He also completed a strategic review of their overseas supply chain arrangements. He then joined Volt Europe Ltd a Recruitment Services Company as Managing Director of the Temporary Recruitment Administration and Procurement Outsourcing division: ProcureStaff Ltd.

He is a Colonel in the Engineer and Logistics Staff Corps RE(V); he sits on the Advisory Board of the Marketing and Logistics Faculty of the University of Cranfield and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carman and a Freeman of the City of London.

Stephen was educated at Bristol University and has attended the Advanced Management Programme at Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania and has studied Mathematics with the Open University.
